Subject: A Simple Feature Request to Make the Photos App Even More Brilliant
Dear Mr. Cook,
First, let me say—Apple is a masterpiece. From the elegance of the hardware to the seamless software and that magical ecosystem where everything "just works," you and your team have created an experience that’s both intuitive and delightful. I mean, even your product announcements are predictably unpredictable, and somehow, that’s comforting. Kudos to everyone at Apple for continuously raising the bar.
Now, onto a tiny feature request that I think could add just a bit more polish to the Photos app.
Could you please add the ability to hide entire albums? Not just the current “Hidden” folder, but an option where all photos within a specific album are automatically hidden from the main photo feed. Simple, right?
Let me explain.
There are two types of photos that people might want to keep but not see all the time:
- Naughty Pictures – In my case, let’s say tasteful, private photos of my wife (affectionately referred to as Miss Pug DJ). These are the kind of photos I’d like to access intentionally, not stumble upon while scrolling through vacation pics with family nearby.
- Nice-but-Not-Now Pictures – Think work-related images, project documentation, screenshots I’ll probably never look at again, or, you know, my daughter’s first number two in the toilet—a milestone we’re proud of, but not exactly the kind of photo I want to see when I’m looking at Mrs. Pug.
The current “Hidden” album is great, but it feels like a catch-all drawer where everything gets mixed together—naughty pictures next to random receipts and proud potty moments. What I’d love is the ability to create albums (like “Work Projects” or “Private Photos”) and set them to be hidden, so the contents don’t show up in the general feed unless I specifically go looking for them.
It’s a small feature, but it would make photo management feel cleaner, more intentional, and—let’s be honest—less awkward during impromptu photo-sharing moments.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I know Apple is busy shaping the future, but sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest difference. Like Night Shift. Or the satisfying click of AirPods snapping into their case.
Keep up the incredible work, and please pass my gratitude to the amazing team behind the magic.
